Editorial standards

The rules the pages are built to.

Every price carries a date

A fare without a date is a fare nobody can check. Our build fails if a travel leg is missing one.

Operators before aggregators

A price comes from the company that charges it wherever one is published. Where only a third party publishes it – JR Central puts no fare table on its own site – we say so on the page.

Gaps are stated, not filled

Where something is not published we write that it is not published. Tōfuku-ji has not announced its 2026 night illumination, so we do not print last year's dates as though they were this year's.

Comparisons are computed

The JR Pass verdicts are summed from the fare records on each route. Verdicts on places are fields on those records and the /worth-it/ hub aggregates them, so a page cannot say one thing while the summary says another.
